Medicine Spaces - Seats of Power
When I guide someone through meditations, whether or not they're new or experienced at it, I begin by keeping it simple and focus on the breath for the first few moments. Breathwork is the foundation in any meditation as there is no life without breath. Through breath we can experience the exhiliration and joy of being alive - feel the wonder and magick of a vibrant world in it: just as easily as allowing everything that diminishes you joy, and causes deep seated anxiety, stress, and dis ease can be released out to the world and away from you.
After briefly attuning to your natural rhythm, the magick begins - but it is nothing more or less than what you already have in you.
Think of a space that brings a sense of peace and calm, any space. It could be something youve seen in a movie or tv or comic; some place you remember and love dearly, or someplace you read in a book. Now imagine what its like to be standing there. How does this space make you feel? feel the air upon your skin, feel the warmth of the light - everver it comes from embrace you and keep you warm. Where you stand is firm ground that supports all of you.
The point of this meditation is to re introduce and center you to a place you are already aware of: you.
One of these places for me is known as "The Celestial Observatory." A monastary of secrets that lies atop a mountain watching over the valley of whispers where the winds and breeze carries the final utterances of stars and planets and secrets as they pass beyond the valley - to be consumed: and in the sky above is a Black Hole for a sun. I would sit on a platform outside the monastary in the light and queer breeze coming from the valley, and listen to the whispers as they pass by. In a form of meditation in this space, I look up and meditate upon the nothing I see in the abyss above; taking comfort knowing that within that portal, the abyss stares back into me.
For me, I am as familiar with the air and the whispers on the breeze and the Black Hole that illuminates the skies of that world as much as as I am familiar with our world. These Medicine Spaces that we hold for ourselves... they are us and we are them. These spaces are manifestations of our inner selves as worlds we engage with and can seek refuge within.
As you stand in this place, what does the floor or ground feel like underneath you? Feel the security this strong foundation of this place as it supports all of you - both in happiness and sorrow. It has you - all of you.
Go down the list and orient your senses to the image to this space that brings you peace: sight, sound, smell, touch, taste. What do you see as you view this world of yours? What do you hear upon the air in this world of yours? What does the air smell like in this world of yours? What does the air taste like? What does this world feel like to your touch? As you see yourself within this place, how does this place make you feel? Know that this space is yours, an no one else's. No one can take this from you. No one. You are more than welcome to come here anytime you want, or need. You will always be loved, cherished here - and always will be.
